Season Change

Disney offers many options for arriving and departing for your experience on the College Program, you can go in either the Spring or the Fall (Summer Seasons are for alumns of the program), and each season is 5 months. I was accepted into the Fall Program which is August - January. However Disney gives everyone the option to extend your program to Fall Advantage which is a 7 month program May - January. I called Disney yesterday requesting a season change to Fall Advantage. After leaving a voicemail, I got a phone call back saying I had successfully been accepted into Fall Advantage!!!

Dreams Do Come True!

Hello everyone! In case you were not aware, I GOT ACCEPTED INTO THE DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM! I got Attractions (the role I wanted)! It was a great ending to this day which wasn't the best. The crappy day started off bad when I only got 45 minutes of sleep, then I had work at 9am, then class right after and after class I had to (what felt like forever) drive all over the world running errand after errand. Keep in mind I had not eaten since 5pm the day before, close to 24 hours with nothing in my system and only 45 minutes of sleep imagine how I felt! Well I finally arrived back at my apartment, climbed up the flight of stair to my room and plopped on my bed, I debated taking a nice deserved nap but instead I said "hell I'll check facebook," while I was on facebook I went to my e-mail not thinking anything, and I opened my inbox to find an e-mail with subject "Disney College Program: Your Invitation!"

I opened the e-mail and immediately jumped up out of bed and shot across the hall to tell my friends who lived next to me, I was screaming and out of breath, my friend gave me a glass of water and I was shaking holding the cup. She asked "what role did you get?" and I hadn't even known because I just say "Congratulations" on the e-mail and lost it. I soon discovered that I got an invitation for being an Attractions Cast Member for the Fall 2010 Season.
I decided to head out back onto the road to go home to tell my family, on the ride there I called all my friends and extended family to tell them the good news. When I arrived home I showed my aunt the letter and she immediately burst into a frenzy of laughter screaming an the occasional "OH MY GOD" as she jumped up and down and hugging me at the same time. I can't believe this is happening!

"If you can dream it, we can do it!"

Horizons 1: Ready For Departure

Hello everyone! My name is Justin and this is my blog documenting my experience with the Walt Disney World College Program for fall 2010 or fall advantage 2010. So last week I submitted my application and selected roles I wanted to have for the CP. For those of you who don't know, role is one of the many words in Disney's vocabulary, and in fact it just means position. So the three roles I chose were: Character Performer, Attractions, and Vacation Planner. I would be happy with any of these, but Character Performer is my number one top choice, Character Performer could mean anything from being Pluto, or performing in a parade down Main Street. Character Performers also require a separate audition which will take place in Boston on March 24th. The audition will consist of teaching the audition-ers a simple dance, then asked to perform a mime of a task such as "baking a cake" or "opening a gift." If I pass those I will become a Walt Disney World Performer!

Friday February 12th at 9:15PM was my scheduled interview and when 9:16PM passed and no phone call, which immediately set in hysteria of "they will never call me!" Then my phone rang and I sprinted to a quiet room, had the best interview of my life and hung up the phone with confidence!!!

I have to wait 3-4 weeks to hear about Attractions and Vacation Planning, and once I audition if I get in I'll be a Character Performer!

That's all from me today people, please keep your fingers crossed for me.
Have a Magical Day!
